Dear readers: I don’t know if you were already aware, but the ex-president of Nicaragua Daniel Ortega recently had to cancel a trip to Paraguay because of the scandal regarding the alleged incest and rape of his step-daughter which according to his step-daughter lasted for 20 years. The ‘accessmylibrary’ link below delves more deeply into the incest allegations and quotes the step-daughter herself. But what I wanted to say is ‘what a coincidence that Iran is a huge economic supporter of Nicaragua. Like take a look at this quote: “Nicaragua and Iran signed a Memorandum of Understanding early this year during the visit of Ahmadinejad to Managua. It established Tehran would finance Nicaraguan infrastructure projects, hydroelectrical stations, fishery activities and irrigation systems” (source: http://www.nowpublic.com/world/nicaraguan-president-daniel-ortega-visits... ). And as we’re all well aware Mohammed the prophet of Islam (Iran is an Islamic country) is himself accused of rape of a 9 year old little girl (because all sex with little girls is rape by definition), namely his child-wife Aysha. Some though, say that it’s legend, much as they do in Ortega’s situation. Others simply defend it as an accepted social custom of the time. That’s a little more honest at least, but it avoids the larger question of abuse of women in patriarchal societies. And I really like this quote which goes hand in hand with what I’m saying, it comes from this webpage: http://www.accessmylibrary.com/coms2/summary_0286-27331924_ITM . Here is the quote: “But above all, they insist that Zoilamerica is lying because accepting that Daniel Ortega abused a little girl is to recognize that they admire a criminal. This admission is too painful for those who believe that only dictators take advantage of political power.” The same could be said of Mohammed--you know what I mean--regarding how most Muslims are in denial about the pedophilia of their main religious figure. It just doesn’t sound cool to publicize it. I mean I never hear about it, unless I search for it on the net and what not… Luckily I was watching some Spanish channel on TV last night, and so I became aware of the Ortega situation, but he basically is a free man and has so much power that no one can convict him. Almost the way presidents here are accused often of crimes but they’re never prosecuted, like Clinton’s rape allegations, for example or Bush’s case of invading a country illegally. Those are the two that I can think of right now. So, I’m not going to say that Nicaragua is ‘specially’ evil, or that Iran is specially evil. But I will say that it’s hard to prosecute people with power and influence, whether in religion or politics. Thanks for your kind attention and we’ll see you next time… Dennes Longoria
