Pro-democracy voices on Free Speech Radio News

"I'm from Ohio, and this is a lot bigger than civil rights.  This is not Republican or Democrat.  This is democracy.  So
If blacks lose, the rest of you also lose.  Democracy is for everyone," I. V. Featherstone told FSRN reporters Ingrid Drake and Ryme Katkhouda while he was in Washington, D.C. to demonstrate for democracy and against the confirmation of Ohio's electoral vote.

Drake and Katkhouda's report aired Friday on the January 7 Free Speech Radio News broadcast.  The introduction to the report described the situation:

After months of grassroots organizing, disenfranchised Ohio voters achieved a small victory yesterday when Democratic Congresswoman Stephanie Tubbs Jones and Senator Barbara Boxer joined their efforts to challenge the certification of Ohio's electoral college votes in Congress.

Groups organizing protests for the January 20th inauguration of US President George W. Bush received permits from the National Park Service that night, Free Speech Radio News also reported.

Will protests without impact follow voting without democracy, or will we regain the freedom and creativity of effective demonstration?

Our Policy on Comment Submissions: Co-publishers of Narco News (which includes The Narcosphere and The Field) may post comments without moderation. All co-publishers comment under their real name, have contributed resources or volunteer labor to this project, have filled out this application and agreed to some simple guidelines about commenting.

Narco News has recently opened its comments section for submissions to moderated comments (that’s this box, here) by everybody else. More than 95 percent of all submitted comments are typically approved, because they are on-topic, coherent, don’t spread false claims or rumors, don’t gratuitously insult other commenters, and don’t engage in commerce, spam or otherwise hijack the thread. Narco News reserves the right to reject any comment for any reason, so, especially if you choose to comment anonymously, the burden is on you to make your comment interesting and relevant. That said, as you can see, hundreds of comments are approved each week here. Good luck in your comment submission!
