pressuring Unilever and General Foods

Corporate campaigns aren't my first choice for taking action, but I'm desperate to do something that might help.

Sean, do you know or can you suggest where we can track down which large distributors buy from these companies and also what products they buy?  (I assume one important product is palm kernel oil, a replacement for partially hydrogenated vegetable oils.  That would provide a good way to bring these facts to the health conscious:  Don't replace your death with the deaths of others.)

I just sent a missive to Unilever, quite lame really, but it's an opening shot:

I recently learned that Unilever purchases products from companies that grow African palms in Colombia.  These companies are increasingly implicated in grave human rights abuses against their employees and against local communities that oppose the environmental destruction of unsustainable palm plantations.

I would like to know what policy you will adopt to ensure your purchases do not fund murders and other crimes, as I am undertaking a similar review of my own purchases.

E-mail addresses and 800 (or local) numbers for companies like this are always nice.

I may tell the companies outright, You don't want happening to your company what's happening to Coca-Cola.
