On the first test I am described as a slightly left of center libertarian. 100% libertarian on personal issues and 80% on economic issues.

I took the second test twice. The first time through I avoided the extreme choices on most questions and scored -3, -4. The second time I answered some of the questions with the stronger response and scored -4, -5.

I'd be interested to see the results of a man like sub-comandante Marcos. My guess is that he has more libertarian tendencies that he realizes.

I am glad that Ron Paul has repudiated the comments published in his newsletter.  And glad he is speaking out on drug prohibition.

At the same time, I'm deeply troubled by the fear-mongering ads on imigration That he ran in Iowa and New Hampshire.

I consider the treatment of undocumented immigrants to be one of the key civil rights issues of our time and find the stances of all of the Republican candidates with the possible exception of Mike Huckabee (depending on the day) extremely frightening.

And from the get-go, I must say I don't agree with all of Ron Paul's positions. He just comes closer than the rest on most issues.

Here's what I think works.

Seal the border against illegal immigration but reform laws concerning free commerce between our nations to include not only mega-coporations but individuals and small businesses as well.

Relax standards for legal immigration and for obtaining temporary work visas.

If fair standards are instituted for legal immigration and commerce, then sealed borders are not a problem. Few people of good intent would need to cross the border illegally.

If this isn't his policy, it should be. As a South Texas resident I would like to see the United States just as accessible to a Mexican as Mexico is to citizen of the United States.
