Al Gore appearance in Mexico

Do you honestly expect me to bellieve that this was written because the media was disappointed it couldn't go into this talk to question Mr. Gore about CLIMATE CHANGE? How naive do you think people are? And really, there is absolutely NO comparison between Mr. Gore requesting no questions or media at an event and BP denying access to media after the worst environmental disaster the U.S. has seen. So right there you negated your credibility in your motive for this piece. It is common knowledge that the media does not show interest in Mr. Gore because of the topic he discusses, but because they somehow feel it is their obligation at every turn to either try to discredit him or divert from the topic. Don't make me think for one second that the media would even be focused on climate change with what has been in the media regarding Mr. Gore lately, and whether you believe it or not he has every right as a private citizen to request not to be harrassed about it. He recently did a climate presentation in the Phillipines that was very public and can be found on You Tube. If you are so interested in climate change and what he has to say about it, look it up.

Climate change is hitting Mexico hard, and it is even predicted  that drought will affect crops and bring even more immigrants to the US in years to come. So why don't you then focus your journalistc efforts on actually writing articles that address the plight of your own people in line with what Mr. Gore more than likely spoke of instead of using your time making unsubstantiated claims? Also, in the picture you posted here it certainly doesn't look to me like he is enjoying standing there. So unless you have morer to provide than what you put out here more than likely for your own reasons, this column was a waste of time.

Censoring comments on Al Gore story

Why are there no comments here?  I posted one and you are censoring me. HYPOCRITES.

@ Jan

Jan - First off, obviously neither of your comments have been censored. The first was submitted over the weekend and approved today, the first business day when we reviewed the comments.

Still, I think your paranoid tone is very revealing: You immediately jumped to the (false) conclusion that we weren't publishing your comment.

Second, your sense of entitlement screams, and with shrill pitch, through your words. Did you not read the policy on comment submissions that appears above the comment box? It says just that, that this is a space for 500+ copublishers of Narco News to comment, but we also invite guests to submit comments, submit being the key word. One of the reasons is that we find comments without a first and last name are often irresponsible or crazy (and in this case yours are both). There is no guarantee that we publish every comment (although 90 percent do get published). Yours was, frankly, kind of borderline because it works off a false set of facts of your own invention or fantasy that don't accurately portray what the report on Gore's visit actually said.

Finally, the substance of your comment was weak, in that you seem to be suggesting that Gore can do more to stop climate change by talking to 300 elite Mexicans in suits and ties than by allowing the media to broadcast the entirety of his speech. Come again? Really?

Anyway, as you can see, your comments both have been approved, and now it is you that has to live with them, albeit without having posted your full name (which of course probably had something to do with their utter irresponsible tone and substance).

As publisher of this newspaper, I consider the story by reporters Erin Rosa and Fernando León to be top notch journalism. Having reported in 2006 the brutal invasion by Governor Peña Nieto in Atenco, having known women who were gang raped by his police and other political prisoners from that gross attack on human rights, I am very glad our reporters told the world about the douchebag that Al Gore leant his name to in Mexico. And I know that many of our readers also would prefer to know those facts than not to know them.

Signed with first and last name,

Al Giordano
