What are you thinking?

Al I did not get to see you in Madison, but I did poster for your event thru Ben. I have been doing solidarity work with the Bolivarian revolution( 7 years) and other revolutions most of my life.I find your analysis lacking in one most important area. Yes the words from the US may be changing but the actions will be no different and the end game is the same. Nixon when to China and the Stalinists led them down the road to capitalist restoration, in Cuba , Obama wants to do the same as Nixon but their the debate is already under way and we know the gameplan. Ask Venezuela or Eva Golinger if the US is stopping the "4th generation warfare" you may call it "asymetrical" or whatever you want but it is continuing and all your cover that you give Obama I call into question. Have to agree with Kerry... 'Plan Columbia' will not work in Mex

The U.S. is out of its mind to think a plan of any way, shape or form even close to the continued failing 'Plan Columbia' will ever work in Mexico. Kerry is right on!

Take off the Rose Colored Glasses

Clinton, Bush and Obama have all been implicated as youthful users of both Cocaine and Marijuana, yet all 3 have/will continue to fund the War on Marijuana and the greater War on Drugs: both terribly failed policies. By the first full week of the Obama administration he has: (1) stated that he will not support the Re-Legalization of Marijuana (2) has allowed langauage in the 850 Billion "stimulus package" that will spend more money on arresting Marijuana users. (3) allowed federal DEA agents to continue the raids on "Medical Marijuana" distribution centers the grow Marijuana for the sick. It is also quite likely that Obama will support more money for Plan Columbia in order to build a Atlantic/Pacific canal in order to destroy the indigenous populations and move globalization efforts forward: Columbia FTA and Plan Columbia's New Canal http://my.barackobama.com/page/community/post/stopthepropaganda/gGBlHl So let me state it one more time. Take off the Rose Colored Glasses! It is now up to the people to destroy the Cartels by Re-Legalizing Marijuana. We have the numbers. The only question now is wheter we have the will. Bruce W. Glasses better than a blindfold

Bruce W. Cain - Your "Eeyore" attitude is a perfect example of why so many activists on drug policy reform and other issues fail so often to succeed. While it's true that during the campaign Obama never claimed he would legalize marijuana, he did say he would stop the raids. Given that it takes various months to fill positions (the Senate still hasn't approved his Attorney General pick, who will be the person making those decisions about enforcement), I think it's disingenuous and even dishonest of you to claim that a single raid carried out by Bush-era employees, with no attorney general at the helm, means anything in terms of future policy. I conclude that you would prefer that he not stop the raids in order to continue behaving yourself like a "beautiful loser" activist, more concerned with being pure and "correct" than with winning. I'm interested in winning. Those that are not can pound sand.
