Mirror image

The way the article describes it is a mirror image of the government of Omar Torrijos in Panama. The difference is that Torrijos came to power through a coup.

Torrijos, under US supervision, dressed himself up as a "progressive" while at the same time facilitating multinationals to expand their activities in the country. He bred his own brand of leftists, while persecuting and killing those who wanted to stay independent.

Domestically he never got enough support to try his luck in free and fair elections, but internationally the scheme worked brilliantly, with most of the international progressive community admiring him for his "struggle" to get the Canal back from the US and his progressive talk. Similar to the current left-wing governments, opposition was invariably branded as "the oligarchy" and "imperialist agents".

The Torrijos regime was a US scheme and it worked very well.

beautiful work

i'm glad there are people that have such an allegiance to honesty, never stop looking for the truth, and will share their discoveries no matter the consequences.

it's a damn shame there aren't more people with your courage, human society could be more sane.
