If I May Compare

If I may compare the struggle going on in Honduras with the one going on in Great Britain and other countries. I campaign for a human rights organisation and I have to endure the same threats and attempts on my life that some people in Honduras have to sufferr. Some might find it surprising that this happens in Britain. They might be surprised that the intimidation and threats are related to a "care" mental health system. It's different, but just as unsubtle. People are drugged and tortured using drugs just as is done in Russia and China to make dissidents into "Psychiatric patients".

At least in Honduras it is well known what the problem is. In Britain many have given over to a hypnotising "care" system that is a cover for the same worldwide power structure. There is hope. More and more people are seeing through the illusion of a "free" and "caring" commercial and machine like social system that creates broken and mistreated people who do not gain the help they need because a "care" system is being used by a national political structure to shut them up.

I would like to see more comparisons made with other countries, especially those that are often seen as "civilised" or "fair" as Britain is. Thankyou.

Here we go again

Only the coup supporters and rightwing whackjobs actually publicly believe that Sunday's elections in Honduras are going to be "fair and free."

In reality, these elections are simply the crudest versions of the Central American demonstration elections of the 1980s.  In truth, however, most of Latin America has never really experienced non-oligarchical based political democracy.

In fact, in the US, we are starting to experience what oligarchical "democracy" actually means.  When elite democracies' electoral campaigns are underway, most political discourse degenerates into wild mud-slinging character assassinations of oppositional candidates; at the same time, there is very little discussion about the larger issues of vast social inequalities, over-spending on the military, government give-aways to powerful economic interests, etc.

In fact, though the two parties in these oligarchical democracies are not that different in the programs each supports and in policy proposals, they do compete for government expenditures and the empowerment of each party's patronage system.  (To the victor goes the spoils.) That is why the competition can sometimes be deadly.

In contrast, the impoverished working or non-working people don't even rate crumbs from the their master's cake...a cake baked and produced by the nation's workers.  The majority's economic and political concerns and desires aren't considered worthy of consideration.

Political democracy under the economic rule of an oligarchy is mostly a flimsy facade.

The US working people are now ruled by economic oligopolies in finance, banking, insurance, energy and the military; the oligarchs within the US may not see much of a substantial difference between the US political system and Sunday's demonstration election.

For the US economic elite and their political henchpeople, it doesn't matter that these elections are orchestrated by the Honduran oligarchy and that they are conducted under the watchful eyes of the repressive military/policeforce.

Let me give you some

Let me give you some perspective of how¨free and fair¨these elections have been so far (it´s 9:30 a.m. my time)....My family and I live in Tegucigalpa, not far from the airport. since late last night we’ve heard sporadic but consistent gun fire as well as what we believe to be gas canister guns going off every 20 to 25 minutes. We also heard one explosion around 1:30 a.m. These sounds are both near and very far away which tells me that this violence is happening in several different areas all at the same time.

Absolutely NO ONE can say anything that can legitimize today´s election without flat out lying. It´s impossible. What´s happening here will definitely be a sign of the future for other latin american countries....over throw your elected president (feed the media a bunch of ridiculous lies about why he was over thrown) terrorize your own people and convince the United States that it´s all being done to establish a democratic nation. The joke is on us Honduras!
