Uhh, to answer your last

Uhh, to answer your last question: Because they support the coup?

U.S. Department of State Contact Info

If anyone would like to express their concerns about this apparent and difficult double standard -- cutting back on aid to Nicaragua for concerns about a municipal election while continuing aid to the supporters of an overt coup d'etat which implicitly threatens the stability of every government of Latin America which has a national military -- in a coherent and polite way, you may contact the U.S. Department of State here.

Clinton: an oligarch's best friend

The Clintons have always proven that they were (and are) an oligarch's best friend (NAFTA, Welfare "reform", etc.). They are members or employees of the Oligarchy International

However, there are different levels within the International. For example, members of the Honduran oligarchy are considered to be lower-level oligarchs as compared to those in charge of Argentina or Latvia.

Thus -because of their US dependency status- the Honduras oligarchs usually take their orders from their bosses in the U.S.

I do know that "our" oligarchs were ,and are getting impatient with Latin American leaders who are actually directing a drop or two of the nation's wealth toward their poorer citizens.

I remember H. Clinton's contest for the Democratic Presidential spot. Many times did she use the term "dictator" in conjunction with the name of Chavez. By the way, the Honduran oligarchy is using the Chavez brand as part of their fearmongering. That's right. Chavez is the boogey man that the oligarch's military protected everybody from.

We must sympathize with the plight of oligarchs everywhere. Capitalism has produced a giant global crises. Although it was finally brought to head by the extraordinary greed of the oligarchs (and their global corporations), they still have to grab more and more. They really don't know (and they don't want to know) how profound this crisis really is, but they want to make sure they have access to trillions of dollars in order to cushion themselves from another economic blow.

The only place they can grab more wealth is from the non-oligarchs. They don't want to start a massive global conflict by poaching on each other's "property."

So, Don't Cry for Me Honduras. Clinton, her employers and Honduras' oligarchs surely don't. Be prepared for further "democratic" coups.

Of course, in the U.S., be prepared for a drastic lowering of the average citizen's standard of living.  If my fellow citizens allow this to occur with minimum protest, our oligarchs won't be provoked into demonstrating their democratic credentials...as has been done by Honduras' oligarchy.

Al, a question for you...

Al, there's a post on a blog by someone calling themselves EPHeidner, who I don't know and certainly can't vouch for, who makes this allegation:

One curious connection between the World Bank and the coup in Honduras comes with role of former Honduras Banco Futuro President Jaime Chavez, who on two occasions has hosted religious revivals in Miami, and used General Romeo Vasquez – the leader of the coup – as a guest speaker.7 Banco Futuro was absorbed by the Bank Latin American Financial Services (Lafise) Group, owned by close friend of the Bush family Roberto Zamora. Zamora and Jaime Chavez have their names sprinkled across a range of World Bank meetings and seminars. Zamora is also a middle man for the U.S. Overseas Private Investment Corp. Through Lafise, he gets loans from OPIC, makes loans to Central American developers, and does well off the interest. Zamora helps developers build five star hotels with OPIC loans8 – Hugo Chavez and Manuel Zelaya use oil revenues to help farmers, build infrastructure, raise minimum wage. LAFISE is a major holder of Honduran debt.9 Jaime Chavez also operates as a ‘consultant’ on money-laundering.10 Another pundit associated with this bank crowd is Octavio Sanchez, former Minister and defender of the takeover.

I can't establish that the Jaime Chavez of MigaPartners biblical prophecy fame is the Jaime Chavez-Almendares of the Central American Bank for Economic Integration (CABEI) and Banco Futuro. I haven't even confirmed that Chavez Almendares was with the World Bank. But there's this interest fact: MIGA is the abbreviation for the Multilateral Investment Guarantee Agency, a subsidiary of the World Bank. So... do you know?
