Dear Colleague,
Thank you to The Fund for Authentic Journalism, and to all our readers who have supported it, for making Narco News live to report on the drug war and democracy from Latin America again. In less than six months, you raised the funds to match a $30,000 matching grant from the Tides Fund for Drug Policy Reform, and, miraculously, you raised a record $8,145, in small contributions, in the last 30 days of that campaign
Because of your hard work, the Narco News School of Authentic Journalism will be held again next month in Bolivia, with three dozen journalism scholars and an equal number of professors because of your work, Narco News is publishing more actively than ever The Fund for Authentic Journalism, in addition to putting our Authentic Journalists back in the field, has revolutionized the way that journalism is financed in our América, a journalism that is now free from the top-down financial pressures that too often compromise the media.
From somewhere in a country called América,

From the Treasurer of the J-Fund:
It's time to thank the hundreds of readers who contributed to keep this newspaper online and publishing, and to train more journalists from across the hemisphere to continue the work of authentic journalism.
30 days ago, we needed to raise another $7,023 by today to make our goal. Thanks to all your support, we made that goal and exceeded it, raising $8,145 in just 30 days. With luck and the monthly pledges that have already been made, this hopefully means we won't have to do any more fund appeals for Narco News until after the summer is over (although we may still hear from some individual scholars seeking help with their travel expenses).
In the meantime, we'll still be accepting contributions and offering those fabulous Narco News watches as a gift to anyone who gives $100 or more.
The success of this fundraising campaign would not have been possible without all the Narco News readers, copublishers, journalists and scholars who wrote fund appeals and volunteered in so many different ways to make this all happen.
Narco News will be publishing throughout the summer, and I'll see you in the fall. Enjoy your summer!

P.S. As a special gift for all who make new contributions of $100 or more, The Fund is offering these attractive watches, while supplies last, to our supporters.
Can't decide which you want? For donations of $200 or more, we'll make you a special gift of both:
