In view of the seriousness of the latest acts of hostility and aggression in the community of San Marcos Avilés, the Zapatista support bases (BAZ) have urged us to share this report with you:

The threats made against them have increased sharply since the Mexican elections in July.

The media has published false reports that the Hopi Tribe passed the Little Colorado River settlement, which is aimed at giving Hopi and Navajo water to non-Indians in Arizona and the coal fired power plant, Navajo Generating Station, one of the dirtiest in the US, and Peabody Coal.
The bill, devised by Arizona Senators Jon Kyl and John McCain and non-Indian attorneys, would require Hopi and Navajo to give up their aboriginal water rights.

Posted by Dennes Longoria - June 17, 2012 at 9:01 pmWhile I agree with Kofi that peace should be the ultimate goal and it has to be a concerted effort and not someone forcing their will unilaterally the way Bush did in Iraq, the option to use force has to also be on the table as a last resort if the Syrian leader fails to cooperate and continues murdering his own people. But the first step is absolutely one of getting all the parties that have an interest around a round table and just create an atmosphere of mutual cooperation.

A delegation of human rights experts interviewed survivors of the Miskito Indian massacre in Honduras and report that the United States participated in the massacre just prior to retrieving a delivery of cocaine.
On May 11, 2012, four helicopters conducted an apparent drug interdiction near the town of Ahuas. At least one of the helicopters opened fire on a passenger boat killing two pregnant women, a 14-year-old boy and a 21-year-old man, while seriously injuring at least four more.
