ICE puts House of Death informant in harms way

Informant Ramirez Peyro transferred suddenly from county jail to federal detention center in New York

The House of Death informant, who is currently fighting an effort by the Department of Homeland Security to deport him back to a certain death in Mexico, has been dealt a new card by the U.S. government — courtesy of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).

Within weeks of the U.S. Eighth Circuit Court of Appeals publishing an opinion that went against the government in his case, ICE agents last week yanked the informant, Guillermo Ramirez Peyro, out of the county jail in Elk River, Minn., where he had been housed in solitary confinement since the fall of 2006, and transferred him to the Buffalo Federal Detention Center located midway between Buffalo and Rochester in the community of Batavia in upstate New York.

Millions of dollars in USAID funding still flowing to Honduras

Agency bankrolling “good governance” programs to ensure the “rule of law in the country”

The taxpayer-funded Millennium Challenge Corporation has continued to move millions of dollars into Honduras since the June 28 coup d'état, but it is not alone, Narco News has now confirmed.

The U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) is slated to provide Honduras with nearly $47 million in funding in fiscal 2009, which ends Sept. 30, 2009. Nearly all of that money (some $43 million) is scheduled to be delivered as previously planned to Honduras — which is now under the leadership of a putsch regime that President Obama has already described as “not legal.”

Millennium Challenge Corp. poured millions into Honduras in months leading up to putsch

U.S. aid agency, established under Bush, seeks to promote “economic freedom”

The coup d'état that rocked Honduras in late June and removed democratically elected President Manuel Zelaya from office, sending him into exile in Costa Rica, was preceded by a multi-million dollar build-up of foreign aid from a U.S. agency that includes on its board of directors the president of the International Republican Institute as well as Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.

That taxpayer-funded agency, called the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC), oversees a multi-billion dollar foreign-aid fund called the Millennium Challenge Account. It was established in 2004 under the Bush administration as means of combating terrorism by funding development in poor nations under a strict neo-conservative free-trade model.

U.S. Appeals Court sides with House of Death informant - again

Judges find U.S. government’s reasoning lacking in ICE snitch’s deportation case

The U.S. government’s ongoing, four-year effort to deport the House of Death informant back to a certain death in Mexico has once again hit a roadblock in the U.S. Eighth Circuit Court of Appeals.

That court today ruled that the Board of Immigration Appeals (BIA) erred in reversing an immigration court judge’s most recent decision to grant the informant, Guillermo Ramirez Peyro, relief under the United Nations Convention Against Torture (CAT).

The appeals court also issued a sharp rebuke of the Justice Department-controlled BIA’s dismissive attitude toward Ramirez Peyro and his work as a U.S. government informant.

Former U.S. Ambassador Roger Noriega hired to push Honduran putsch agenda

Lobbying records reveal his firm is targeting State Department and National Security Council

Lanny Davis, a long-time doorman for the Clinton agenda, has an interesting bedfellow in his latest lobbying assignment on behalf of the business interests behind the illegal putsch regime of Honduras.

Davis, a lawyer, neo-liberal Democrat and now a lobbyist employed by the D.C. office of global law firm Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe, was recently retained by the Business Council of Latin America (CEAL in its Spanish initials) to hawk for the coup interests in Honduras,

Former DEA agent's lawsuit exposes CIA "fraud"

Litigation also claims spook agency engages in wholesale spying on other federal agencies

The CIA was recently caught with its pants down.

As part of the course of his 15-year legal battle with the CIA, former DEA agent Richard Horn finally got the opportunity to demonstrate to the world that the emperor of clandestine activity has no clothes.

The secretive government agency is now coping with the embarrassing exposure of its deceit in a lawsuit filed by Horn, who previously served as the DEA’s country attaché in Burma (now officially known as the Union of Myanmar) from June 1992 to September 1993. In addition, the events that prompted the CIA’s lie appear to point to serious dysfunction within the agency that potentially poses a threat to the very U.S. national security it is charged with protecting.

Judge Sotomayor Gains Support of Law Enforcement

The Thin Blue Line is behind her Supreme Court nomination

If you paid any attention to the mainstream media during the initial days of the Senate Judiciary Committee hearings over the nomination of Bronx-born Judge Sonia Sotomayor, you understand that some white men [spelled Republican Senators] have a problem with her.

They seem to think she is one of those “activist” judges who is a “bully” on the bench and who has some ‘splainin’ to do to the American public. That’s the gist of the racist portrait that has been painted of the judge by her opponents, most fearful in the canyons of their brains of having their conceptual framework of white privilege undermined [reverse racism as they deem it] should she ascend to the high court.

Who's behind Lanny Davis' putsch paycheck?

Following the money trail in the Honduran coup

Lea en Español Aquí

Going to bat for an illegal coup used to be the job of shadowy CIA operatives back in the good ol' days of the Cold War.

But that is bygone era. Today’s junta-enablers no longer have to work in secret. In fact, illegal usurpers can now shop openly in Washington for a hired gun of their choosing to grease the wheels of Congress and commerce to assure their coup d'état remains a fait accompli.

Enter Lanny Davis — a long-time friend and Yale Law School chum of Hillary Clinton and former White House Counsel to Bill Clinton [as well as a consummate shill for their agendas].

Davis also is a lawyer and lobbyist now employed by the D.C. office of global law firm Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe. In that capacity, Davis was recently retained by the Business Council of Latin America (CEAL) to hawk for the coup in Honduras — or as is the preferred description among the pushers of simulation, the administration of “de facto” Honduran President Roberto Micheletti [elected by virtue of having cast the most bullets in deposing the people’s choice in Honduras, President Manuel Zelaya).

Cele Castillo ordered to report to federal prison

Judge revokes former DEA agent’s bond even after being made aware of prosecutorial misconduct allegations

Iran/Contra whistleblower Celerino Castillo is being sent directly to jail in the aftermath of his encounter with the buzz saw of Texas justice.

Despite being represented by an attorney, Robert E. De La Garza, who has been suspended by the State Bar of Texas for misapplying clients’ funds, the federal judge in Castillo’s case, at the urging of the government prosecutor, determined that there is no evidence of Castillo’s defense being tainted by the stink of ineffective assistance of counsel.

The fact that the same attorney’s son is facing federal gun charges, similar to those brought against Castillo, also has been deemed by the judge to be little more than an “inference” of a conflict of interest on the part Castillo’s attorney. Hence, the judge, at a hearing held Friday, July 10, 2009, in federal court in San Antonio, Texas, ruled that Castillo is not likely to succeed in the appeal of his conviction now pending before the Fifth Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals.
