It's Time To End the Illegal and Immoral Bush Wars
We're being bombarded via the Mainstream Media with all these different opinions as to whether Obama needs to hurry up and send more troops to war or not. Basically the left wants peace and an end to Bush policies, and the right more war and a continuation of Bush policies. But what struck me was this one liberal commentator, telling us socialists and liberals to 'tone it down' (I don't remember his exact words)... That some of us were being too critical of Obama and we should just stand behind whatever he does 100% and just trust that he's going to act right, because it's just built into him somehow.
I don't think we should tone it down. I think the more that the Right Wing is trying to pressure Obama to go one way, the more the Left Wing should be pressuring him to go the other. We leftists and liberals must complain as loudly as we possibly can that Obama is not coming through on his promises to undo Bush's mistakes and set us (and the world) on a new course. All we're told is that it's very corrupt over there (in Afghanistan) and so it makes it difficult. Well, hello... it's corrupt everywhere! We cannot stand by and simply allow Right Wing ideologues such as O'Reilly and Ann Coulter to dominate the debate. They have a say but so do we.
Obama told Chinese students on worldwide television the other day that the flow of information (in Cyberspace) was good, because people had to hold their government accountable, and that was one way to put pressure on it to do the right thing, so that's exactly what I'm doing right now: I'm telling Obama to do the right thing and do as he promised and end the illegal wars on Iraq and Afghanistan. Who knows—had those wars not still be ongoing, it may have prevented the Ft. Hood massacre (I'm just saying). Obama inherited a broken world (we liberals can all agree), now it's time to fix it. Hopefully he didn't win the Nobel Peace Prize for nothing.
