Mosque Controversy: Breaking The Cycle Of Hate
Have any of you been keeping up with the Mosque being built near Ground Zero controversy? To sum up, the Imam who's in charge of the project, whose name is Rauf, was on Larry King Live last night being interviewed by Soledad O'brien... Any way, he basically stated that it would not be safe to move the Mosque in order to please the anti-Mosque crowd, (aka: the islamophobes) because it would let the radicals on both sides control the discourse, or words to that effect. I mean, aren’t they controlling the discourse already which caused us to go to war in Afghanistan and Iraq? but anyway, who needs Islamic radicals when we have folks like that Terry Jones preacher character right here at home… did you hear about this feller, that wants to burn Qurans on 9/11? First he said the burning was gonna be on no matter what, then he cancels it saying he reached a deal with the Ground Zero Imam to have him move the mosque to another location, but turns out that was a fluke and the mosque folks had not even talked to the guy (they may be meeting this weekend, though--it's not real clear) so he retracted the cancellation calling it now only a 'suspension'…I call it retardation… All I gotta say there is, can the Muslims overseas or whatever just grow a set, when they see this freak burn their holy books?? OK?!? It's like the terrorists over there… We won't blame all Islam, if they won't blame all America for the actions of this nut…deal? The more freedom there is in a society, the more freaks and psychos you're gonna have running lose--that's part of the price of freedom, and some will be able to operate under the shadow of seeming civility, until they prove themselves to be unfit for society and for humanity…like this Jones character will if he proceeds with his stunt. Any way, if we're such a Christian nation as many are always claiming, then if Islam wants to slap us in the face and build the mosque on Ground Zero, then why can't we just do what the Good Lord said and turn the other cheek, and not worry about it!? I can understand how tough it may be to actually put in practice what we so loudly preach, but it would be for our own spiritual well-being and harmony. And more importantly, we’d be breaking the cycle of hate…
