Mitziton: public letter to the bad government in Chiapas

- The blockade was lifted on July 5th after representatives of yourself, the governor, signed a memorandum of agreement by which they pledged to:
First, respect the land rights of Mitzitón community, municipality of San Cristobal de Las Casas, Chiapas.
Second: they undertook, along with representatives of the community of Mitzitón, to initiate a process of dialogue between the government and the paramilitary group "Eagle Wings - Army of God" to seek their relocation outside the community of Mitzitón.
Third: The members of the community pledged to unblock the federal Pan-American Highway at Mitzitón .
This was done through the goodwill of our companer@s. And since the 5th of July WHAT HAVE YOU DONE GOVERNOR? You promised to relocate the paramilitaries, THOSE WERE YOUR WORDS, WHERE ARE YOUR ACTIONS?
On September 1st, our brothers and sisters from Mitzitón reported that the paramilitaries were continuing to threaten them and cut down their forests. They tried to burn their houses, robbed them and beat their women. Because of this, since August 31st, , women, men, children and elderly people have been gathered in the ejido house under threat of death.
Given these facts, as adherents to the Other Campaign, we have agreed to gather together in Mitzitón delegations from different organizations, groups and communities, to give solidarity with our presence to the dignified struggle of our sisters and brothers of Mitzitón. Many many more people in Mexico and other countries are not present here, but are watching the situation and from their own places will be raising their voices and adding to this denuncia.
- THE RESPECT OF THE AGREEMENTS MADE BY THE ASSEMBLY OF THE EJIDATORIOS OF MITZITON, BEING THE MAXIMUM AUTHORITY OF THE PEOPLE.
- THE FULFILLMENT OF THE AGREEMENTS SIGNED ON THE 5th JULY, and that THE GOVERNMENT DOES ITS WORK AND RELOCATES THE PARAMILITARIES. MEANWHILE WE ARE GATHERED TOGETHER HERE WAITING FOR YOUR ANSWER.
-THIS IS NOT AN INVITATION FROM THE OTHER CAMPAIGN TO BUILD ANY TYPE OF RELATIONSHIP WITH YOU, WE ARE HERE IN SOLIDARITY WITH THE JUST DEMANDS OF THE ORGANISED PEOPLE OF MITZITÓN, ADHERENTS TO THE OTHER CAMPAIGN.
WE ARE ACTING IN A CIVIL AND PEACEFUL MANNER. WE ARE NOT SEEKING CONFRONTATION, NOR TO FALL FOR PROVOCATIONS.
