OFA Organizer and Activist for Healthcare Reform Looses Her Battle with Cancer

In August, 2007, I had the opportunity to attend one of the first "Camp Obama" organizing and traning weekends in the US.  Melanie Shouse was also one of the "campers" that weekend.  Her knowledge of health care in the US was impressive.  Her story, unfortunately, not unique for millions of people in the US:  Lack of insurance for care, and the concequences for so many.  For her, it was death.

Melanie has inspired many here in Missouri, to keep working for change in the system.

I had the honor of sharing my health care story at a candlelight vigil last summer as did Melanie.
