ICE Special Agents and San Luis Police Department Officers Raid San Luis Middle School
In May of 2008, Immigration & Customs Enforcement (ICE) special agents, San Luis Police Department police officers, along with three K-9 units conducted a raid at the San Luis Middle Schools in search of drugs.
The ICE special agents involved are stationed in Yuma, Arizona and at the time of the raid, the ICE’s special agent in charge (SAC) was Alonzo Pena. Because of the sensitivity of deviating from their primary responsibility, and the fact that ICE special agents were used to search middle school students (minors) for drugs, I assume the then SAC, Alonzo Pena was advised and apprised of the raid. Pena is now allegedly the DHS Attache assigned to Mexico City after spending approximately 14 months as the ICE’s SAC – Arizona District.
In my opinion, ICE once again, wasted valuable manpower resources, mismanaged and abused their authority when decided to assist the San Luis Police Department in such a low priority enforcement action.
According to Capt. Javier Nuño of the San Luis Police Department, San Luis, Arizona, there had been other similar school enforcement initiatives. According to Capt. Nuño, such operations serve as “preventive measure and is good for schools.”
I am reporting this particular ICE enforcement operative for the American people and tax-payers to know how our money is being wasted and misused in such ICE operations.
Calls to the San Luis Middle School or Gadsden School District failed to return this author’s request for information. The Arizona Department of Education (ADE) responded by stating that the Arizona school districts were independent with no oversight of the ADE.

San Luis, Arizona - A vehicle under investigation was the result of the revision to San Luis Middle School by police corporations, in search of narcotics.
On Wednesday, elements of the Police Department and Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), with the support of three K-9 dogs, checked backpacks of students, classrooms, offices and parking lots, in an operation agreed with the Gadsden School District.
"We are in a preventive work to prevent youth drug introduced to school," said Police Captain Javier Nuño, who added that a similar operation was conducted recently in Southwest Jr. High.
For his part, Raymond Aguilera said that the aim is to "keep the school drug-free, although there are people who can be against that these revisions do this is a preventive measure and is good for schools."
Nuño announced that there was no finding of drugs among students useful, but in the revision of the cars in the parking lot one of the dogs detected a suspicious odor in a vehicle, and found what they could be remnants of seeds of marijuana, but ruled out giving further details because it is being investigated.
He added that it was a Nissan Sentra that remained in the parking lot of the school, where the elements completed the review.
According to Nuño, in the last year were reported ten cases of possession of drugs in schools in the district, and one more in St. Louis Secondary. http://www.bajoelsol.com/news/droga_4515___article.html/escuela_luis.html
