Reporter's Notebook: Walt Lyford

Presidential Pranayama

If we were to downsize DC would we finally get a president who inhales? Washington has been holding its breath for so long we are all suffocating. There is no enterprise in this country because government is always in the way. Like death by a thousand cuts.

Americans could do a booming business in growing, marketing and distributing marijuana and other herbs, in nice packages and with stamps verifying the quality, purity and safety of the product but we need freedom, not repression. Instead there are many great jobs at Wal-Mart for Americans. If you’re a little older, like I am, you can possibly become a greeter at the door. All that stuff about free enterprise and a free country was a bunch of hooey from old textbooks. There’s not much truth in it, is there?

Think what’s going to be done with coca in Bolivia with the new Cocalero president. They are going to make teas and soft drinks, cosmetics and toothpaste (morning blend) and lots of other soft products out of the divine herb of the Incas. The most important soft drink in the world started with that premise.

As it now stands, European companies will be consulted to do most of the innovation since Americans are violently opposed to herbal drugs and have supported a brutal campaign of repression to eliminate Coca from the face of the earth. Your tax dollars have been put to work to serve whose best interests? Thanks to the American government we got crack cocaine instead of soft herbs.

How can the government of the People work against us like that?  Do the majority of my countrymen have these corrupt, perverse and fascistic attitudes? Not in my experience, not at all. There is a National Security State that calls the shots in the USA and its overseas Empire.  This secret government controls both political parties. The Republicrats and Demopublicans are two right wings of the same one party system.

History, geography and politics are off limits to Americans. No, the poor things must be content with shopping till they flop. They can buy legal goods with borrowed money at the company store and think they are rich, the veritable top dogs on the planet until they begin to notice the wind has shifted. Oops.

Next, why the gig is up for the Colossus and why silver is actual unencumbered wealth and dollars are war-supporting debt.
