A letter from Sarah de Haro

Dear all, dear reader,

I had the very big chance to attend the school in Isla Mujeres. This was one of the most powerful experiences I had in my life, the best school I could have dreamt on. Too good for me, I should say, and Luis Gomez knows why.

I would like to say to other readers that I think it is essential to support NarcoNews work, all the time, but all the more for the school, which is such a unique initiative for young journalists.

I write this letter especially to support a scholarship for Laura del Castillo Matamoros. Testimonies like Laura show how América needs NarcoNews to fight and hope and surely win when the liars are defeated. Laura has welcomed me in Colombia, and I could see how NarcoNews have changed her life, how much it is important to her heart. I really want her to be supported with a scholarship again. She's so smart, courageous and gifted.

Please help Laura and all the young journalists from América deserving this school, this rare opportunity, if not unique, to learn a different journalism.

Please help building a strong network of independent journalists looking for the truth. Money matters, for sure, not only for the school, but also as it also helps to protect NarcoNews journalists from pressures, political arrests and harassment, since Reporters without Borders and others refuse to admit democracy is in march over the Internet, refusing to protect independent web journalists, or "unofficial" ones who don't need a fucking press card to do their work and bring the truth.

I must say I doubted NarcoNews would come back, but it has happened, and in such a great manner I just feel very ashamed I have thought it could disappear. NarcoNews stands stronger than ever over the Internet, despite all predictions and many ennemies. Surely I hadn't understood enough who was Al when he wanted something.

At a time when Europe is shaking from bombings, at a time of lies by almost all the representatives of Western countries, we need counter-information, we need investigation, we need ethics and talent.

Laura has all.

No money? Make a last-minute donation anyway...

If you want to make a donation to the Fund for Authentic Journalism but lack the money or the means to make an electronic payment at the moment, e-mail me how much you want to give.

I'll make your donation for you while it still counts the most.  Pay me back later.  It's that simple.

Just be sure that if you want to credit your donation to one of the letter-writers (above), tell me who so I can pass that info on along with your donation.

Help put the next session of the School of Authentic Journalism on solid financial footing.

If you've got the electronic means, give at the Fund for Authentic Journalism.

Or to donate now and pay later, no interest or fees, just tell me the amount you want to give and the letter-writer you want to support for a scholarship.
