$3,743 To Go
By Al Giordano

I've been so busy singing blogging and reporting that I haven't nagged y'all for a good while, but I'd like to wrap up our Spring fund appeal sooner rather than later. Thanks to your generosity we're almost to our $15,000 goal, having raised $11,256 and 70 cents so far.
If you haven't already, please consider that tossing a coin into the guitar case The Fund for Authentic Journalism.
And if you've already donated, please consider contributing a little extra, today, to get us over the top.
Your small donations add up to make this blog and its host publication thrive at an hour when commercial newspapers based on older models are going down the tubes. In addition to the value of the news, information and analysis you receive here (free of charge, whether or not you donate, and without having to be interrupted by annoying ads and pop-up screens), your contribution gives you an added satisfaction: that it drives the corrupted media class absolutely crazy that we're still here after nine years, demonstrating, day after day, that there are better and more honest ways to report and analyze the news and events that shake our world, and without the limits to a free press that come from their dependence on advertisers and their demands on editorial content.
You can make your contribution online, right now, via this link.
Or you can send a check to:
The Fund for Authentic Journalism
PO Box 241
Natick, MA 01760
And let everyone know, in the comments section, what you're able to give. It helps encourage others to do the same....

Nagging is good.
Submitted on May 19th, 2009 by Kat (not verified)I've kept meaning to donate, thanks for the push. $25 coming your way.
One more time..
Submitted on May 19th, 2009 by Lorie CavinAl, that open guitar case made me donate again! Smiling at the remembering of the great time at the Rowe Seminar and Authentic Music, Comedy and Poerty Show!
Sending my $$ to the Fund for Authentic Journalism is an investment in my education in the art and sweat of community organizing. Stretching the way I look at the world comes through many sources, including the internet. Direct contact with regular folks and their joys and pains get the bulk of my time and $$. That's why I keep giving.
You are one of my regular folks. A guy I trust in the clutch. I appreciate all the work so many report here and the Sphere. The comments of our readers are thoughtful, in your face, with dignity and justice for all.
Can I get an "Amen" somebody?
PS I gave $43.30

Thanks
Submitted on May 19th, 2009 by engineer (not verified)...for the outstanding journalism, and the reminder to donate. Your work has helped fundamentally change my perspective on politics and the world this past year and a half.
15 grad-student dollars into the case.
Gave $100 a few weeks back...
Submitted on May 19th, 2009 by Travis (not verified)Maybe in another couple weeks when it gets close I'll try to toss in a bit more to help close it out.
Great cause...if anyone reading this hasn't given yet, please please do so. Want more incentive? Watch CNN or FOX or even MSNBC for about 20 mins - the ridiculousness of their version of "journalism" will remind you why we need sites like this.
(sidenote: "The Uptake" in MN is also looking for fundraising at the moment, and they do good work too)
Here's $50. I always feel

Unfortunately, I'm broke, so I can't give anything right now

However, I can give some good news, looks like Ted Kennedy's cancer is in remission and he'll be back to the Senate full time after Memorial Day
Elliott, thank you for the

I'll add some more to the pot later this week. It is very important to me to be connected to and contributing what I can to this wonderful group.

There really are people who care out there, great sharing with y'all.

$25 from a retiree who reads
Submitted on May 22nd, 2009 by Bairbre (not verified)$25 from a retiree who reads you daily although I don't post.
I appreciate your experience and knowledge of on the ground politics. Unhappily, now that we have a Democratic president most of the other liberal sites I read have lost their bearings and have little idea of how to play a constructive role.
Keep up your great work, Al.
