and that's getting you credentialed. I believe that credential is owned neither by Al nor Rural Votes, but by the readers, lurkers and commentators on the Field.

 

But, whether it comes through or not, I rest assured that your view on Denver will be one of insight and peering between the cracks.

Is it public where you're coming from? Are you really still blogging from South America, Mexico, or some other "not in the continental US" location? If so, it only makes the strength of your analysis more stunning. Also, McJoan at Kos seems to have gotten the "Al meme" as her post on their front page is a little reminiscent of Al's message.

It couldn't have happened to a more accurate journalist.

Field Hands for making it happen and to Al for inspiring the kind of response that occurred.  Now, we just need a credential for Al and we're all set.  Should be loads of fun.

Have you heard anything back from the DNCC about getting floor credentials, Al? That would make the already good news of you going to Denver truly excellent.

Looks like we might actually hear more about the convention than what kind of sandwiches are served or who's getting thrown under which bus. (Getting tired of that).

Congrats to everyone for righting the fiscal wrong. Stage One is now complete and provides the perfect platform upon which to stand for Stage Two-- the now essential credential.

Fieldhand Clareon posted an email in the comments section of my post that includes the deranged Ms K's e-mailed justification for holding on to the credential. (They really have to stop turning on that computer for her!)

I'm tied up with other matters so perhaps some of you would like to take a few fwaps at the rather listless fish she placed in a barrel and sent to Clare. Ms K has become such a loyal reader of my site that I just know she'll see whatever you post!

If there's anything else that needs saying, I'll chime in when I'm liberated from my other tasks.

And related to the previous post, Kos was spreading the bad word about all of this on Rachel Maddow today.  I had to turn it off when the question to the audience became, "Should we be dampening our support for Obama right now based on this?"  I wanted to call in and say, "Absolutely!  Dampened enthusiasm is a great way to win an election against the successful, savy Republicans!"

Off to my first ever Democratic Party meeting.  I had second thoughts based on your comments about meetings but surely it's more productive than sitting here on the internet??

Tara - One thing I've learned about meetings: All the real work happens in the five minutes before it convenes and after it ends, when individuals meet up and talk on their way in and out. That's when you corral the folks that "do" and not just "talk" and make grand plans.

If you're a cigarette smoker, there's an added benefit: you then have a convenient excuse to miss much of the nonsense that happens in between, as you step out to converse with any others of your kind. I've known non-smokers to pretend to smoke just to get out of the boring part of meetings.

To all of us and esp Al's allegiance to his principles. Do what you love and the money follows..apologies to whoever said it first. ;-)

How it goes! Getting out and about and meeting folks definitely seems productive or at least potentially interesting/informational. Not about the topic, especially, but about how the party works. Might even help us understand how the whimpering, simpering functionaries have run the party up to now. Keep the positive energy going instead of letting them resort to doomsday thinking. Should the rv controversy convert us into old-style chicken littles or dampen our support for Obama? No way!

Thank you to everyone who made this possible. The past couple of months have left us with a budget so tight that after our bills there's precious little left so I haven't been able to donate financially, yet, but as a reader I thank all of you who have and promise to do so when I am able. It pained me not to be able to donate to Senator Obama this month either.

What I have done is emailed Mr. Myers a couple of times and I will keep it up until Al gets his credentials!

Reason I ask is that my wife just started working for LiveScribe, the company that makes the Pulse, and when I saw your reference to the "James Bond spy pen" I figured that's what it was :)

So I'm just curious where the discussion originated. Do you guys know? Alexa, where did you come by this thing?

I saw Rachel Maddow, too, and I usually like her, but was disappointed.

But what struck me is that the media is LATE to the calm down. Those freaking out at dailykos and elsewhere have smartened up and realized who the real opponent is. There have lots of smart diaries on the left blogosphere telling people to keep their eyes on the prize. Yet the media thinks this moment is like the immediate post-FISA period. It aint.

Yeah, we'll be Beta-testers for that Mac version. Like yesterday. (I currently use on my Mac with VmFusion and XP, because it doesn't work with 64-bit Vista biz laptop.)

It originated with me. I pre-ordered the Pulse Pen last December. And once I received mine, I could think of a million uses Al could put it to in Smoking Siberia. (Someone needs to invent a quickie-snap-on rubber cover for the LCD screen for more privacy.) Plus it would be great for his local NarcoNews reporters, altho' I dont remember pointing that out; it would become apparent.

The NYT has a mention of it on its July 3 homepage tonight in a discussion of two newish pens that dont do what the Pulse does.

At least you should be able to help Al get his faster than the 4-6 week current wait. Right?

The media may know otherwise but wants the freakout to continue - good for ratings.  And I haven't been looking too hard but I haven't seen the calm down yet.  Kos was preaching the same stuff today.

The meeting was VERY local - which is fine.  Now at least I know where to go to learn about who to vote for all these judgeships (is that a word?).  Never did really love the idea of elected judges - how the hell am I supposed to know who would make the best judge??  They also talked about how to help Darcy Burner since her house burned down.  It was funny but it kinda reminded me of the terrorist attack comment brou-ha-ha coming out of the McCain camp lately.  Burner could actually benefit from this...am I allowed to say that??

I got there late and left early but did accomplish some business related to my Obama spot in the parade and my fundraiser because I met the local Dem Coordinated Committee Field Rep OUTSIDE the actual meeting.  : ))

I don't know if that's what you meant, Tara, but what you said reminded me of Al's plans for Denver, getting the real story among the smokers. It's enught to make me miss the old habit.

When I hear the words "Pulse Pens" I think of this Fox TV series titled "Dark Angel" about a genetically-enhanced superheroine in the future, working as a bicycle messenger in Seattle after "the pulse," some kind of weapon that erased all computer data. Anyway, our web team has now upped the next fundraising drive (not yet, but soon) threshold. Webmaster writes:

Al -- OT, and it's the bottom of the thread --but  you dont have to publish this.

I've got several hours on my Pulse Pen and only used 276 MB, according to the Desktop program, which is remarkable.

The Livescribe Desktop program is a free download. (For WIN currently.)

So ostensibly, you could go to the convention, use your Mac USB to recharge it at night while there, and actually wait until the Mac Desktop is released in the fall. You'd have your notes and all the audio in the Pen, and on the notebook.

In other words, you dont need the desktop version to use it, but you need the desktop version to archive your notes for posterity and empty the Pen as your 2 GB memory becomes filled. I'm obviously months away from filling the pen.

If someone you know and trust has a WIN machine, you can use that for a desktop. The Pulse can only be paired with one computer at a time, however. There's some rigamarole for switching, but I have the patience of a cockroach so I called and made them do it.
